Meet Maty Feldman-Bicas
Maty has been a Parent Educator since 2001 in San Diego, working with different groups and ethnicities and military families helping them overcome the everyday challenges they face with their children, as they go through different developmental stages and ages and changes in their own life.
She has worked extensively with parents facing separation or divorce . She is trained in the STEP program(Systematic Training for Effective Parenting )all levels (0-5, 6-12 and adolescents) and the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Levels 2,3, 4 and Pathways.
Before becoming a parent educator she worked from 1975 to 1999 with children with learning disabilities, their teachers and parents to help them find and use their strengths and capabilities in Mexico City , where she Graduated with a Bachelor degree From the Escuela Normal de Especializacion, a school to become a Learning Disabilities Teacher, and also a Post Graduate Degree : Educational Therapy for children and teenagers with learning disabilities at the Universidad Iberoamericana , Mexico City campus. This was a Special program from the Marianne Frostig Center for Special Children from L.A. CA (1973 to 1975
In 2002, served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in a Literacy program helping children cope with the learning of a new language, She volunteers in Literacy projects on a regular basis.
She is bilingual and bicultural in English-Spanish, she also took 110 hours training to become an English Teacher as a second language at the Instituto Mexicano Norteamericano de Relaciones Culturales , Mexico City, a program from the American Embassy in Mexico City.
She regularly takes new classes and courses pertaining children's health and wellbeing, such as the ACE's.
